Posted on Dec 4th, 2009

Crimes of all types (and especially crimes of opportunity) are on the rise.  Whether it is the economy, the holiday season, or just simply "because" the reality exists. We ask that if you observe anything out of the ordinary or suspicious you contact the Police Non-Emergency Number (703-691-2131) and make a report. If you see a crime in progress threatening life or property contact 911. Do not be shy ... the Police want to hear from you. Also, please notify the Neighborhood Watch Committee through the link on the contact us page.
Now, what has been happening most recently?
  • A car was vandalized while parked on Morning View Lane -- entry through passenger side window -- Driver's Side Airbag stolen.
  • A single family home on Morning Ride Circle was burglarized on Thursday afternoon -- entry through basement door -- jewelry stolen from the bedroom and study-- young black male in blue hoodie, approximately 5' 9" observed leaving the area..
In both cases, the police were contacted.
In order to be proactive, and to help keep this the safe community we all love to call home, we are pleased to offer a free event -- "Situational and Seasonal Safety Awareness Tips" on December 14th, 7 to 9 pm at the Kingstowne Active Adult Center (Next to the library). Gino Giantesano, a Landsdowne resident and federal law enforcement officer will offer insight, tips, and good conversation to help make the opportunities to the would be criminal less attractive and keep you, your family, your home and your property all safe.
