TRASH
AWAY, INC. (703-838-9008 OR 9010)
Landsdowne
Community Association has a trash and recycling contract with Trash
Away, Inc. Your association fees pay for this service. The trash
and recycling are picked up between 7 AM and 4 PM.
Trash
and garbage containers in Landsdowne will not be permitted in public
view earlier than dusk the evening before pickup (Sunday and Wednesday)
and all containers must be removed from public view no later than dusk
on the day of pickup (Monday and Thursday). Household trash and garbage
does not include hazardous materials, appliances, furniture,
construction material, or extreme amounts of trash.
Trash and garbage must be in securely tied plastic bags or other
approved containers and placed at curbside or other areas designated for
pickup. It is a good idea to mark your garbage cans and lids with your
address in case the wind blows them away from your home. That way,
you'll be able to identify them or a courteous neighbor will return them
to you.
No accumulation or storage of litter, new or used building materials, or
trash of any kind is permitted on any lot. Everyone in Landsdowne is
responsible for picking up litter on his or her property and preventing
windblown debris from originating from his or her lot.
Recyclable material is cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles, and
newspapers. Place recycling bins or bags on the curb no earlier than
dusk the evening before the scheduled pick up. Please don't keep
recycling bins on your front porch!
Appliances and oversize items are picked up when scheduled one week in
advance and payment of an additional fee. Please call TrashAway to
schedule the pick up.
Call
a hazardous material hauler to get paint, flammable fluids, batteries,
and construction materials removed. In some cases, Fairfax county
residents may haul the material themselves as most recyclables are
accepted for free at Fairfax county's I-66 Transfer Station Complex or
I-95 Landfill Complex. However, fees apply to yard waste, brush,
appliances, and tires to offset special processing costs. Please call
the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services at
703-324-5230 for details.
