Return to List February 5/6 Snow Continues
Posted on Feb 6, 2010
It really happened -- 20 inches and counting here on Old Carriage. Please take time to enjoy the snow. At a times like this ... there is no place to go ... so truly there is no place like home.
Please keep us posted how plowing and snow removal is coming along on your street. we have had several passes here so far. Same on Bold Lion.
We realize, some of you may be frustrated when you shovel your parking spaces only to be plowed in once again. We suggest you simply wait until the snow is over. The removal process is three fold. The snow is pushed first -- and in this case -- several times. Later, once snow has stopped, snow is then piled. Finally, sand is added to the surface for traction.
The snow will continue into this evening. Give the snow removal contractor time to do their job. If you are essential personnel you should have already been on your way last evening. If you merely want to go for a drive -- please don't. You will great complicate the removal process by driving unncessarily before the contractor has done their job Compcted snow is a much harder removal process. The process used is virtually the same one used in most, if not all developments in VA, MD and DC. We also appreciate construcrive suggestions how the process may be improved for future snow events. Please take pictures and upload them to the site -- Snows in 2010 ... General Interest ... or create a category of your own. The format is .jpg ... and small (640 or medium compression (800) Use no special characters in the file upload .. and if you still have problems ... send them to events@landsdowne.org and we will get them loaded for you. Prizes will be awarded.
The tennis courts are open for the dogs to play. Fun began early this morning with a few brave pups and their moms and dads. The courts will remain open until the snow level falls below 2" -- a long time we are sure.
Finally, check back here often. Many of us will be meeting later today and tomorrow for snow ball fights, snow fort challenges and snowman/person contests. Ptrizes will be awarded in many snowman/person categories.
Life truly is good.
