In the last two days, 2 dogs have been reunited with their loves ones in over a hour because of a few simple steps. We are a community filled with pet lovers ready to help. Here is what we need to do so:
- Please post current photos of all family pets that could possibly escape and go on great adventures without their loved ones and/or a leash (cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, hamsters, lizards, you get the picture .. anything that can walk, fly or slither away). Accidents happen, doors get left ajar, service providers leave the back gate open -- this often is far too tempting for a pet to resist. Photos, and a brief description may be added to our Pet Directory. It will help immensely should we need to locate your missing pet.
- Please be sure your pet wears a collar -- with a current ID tag At All Times. Name, current phone number, and simple address are all that is needed. Without that information, many pets often end up in a shelter because there is no way to easily find the owners.
- If your pet is lost -- call all 3 shelters, and send a message through the website Contact Us link (Pet Issues). It will enable us to immediately get the word out to no less than 40 pet owners who are more than happy to do whatever is needed to help find your lost pet.
These few simple steps can go a long way to keep our family pets home, and safe.
