Fall Dumpster & Shredding Day

Ok Landsdowne -- You know you are waiting for return of "the Claw."  Your wish has been answered.  Back for a repeat performance -- live in the Landsdowne Pool Parking Lot -- The Shredder and Claw Return -- for your clutter clearing pleasure.

This is the time to get rid of all those large bulk items (grills, appliances, mattresses, furniture, lawn movers, tools, building materials, bikes, etc.) that will not normally be taken with our regular trash pick up.  TVs, computers, electronics -- all are taken for disposal at this event.

Do you have piles and piles of paper needing shredding?  Landsdowne resident, Norrice Tucker (www.mypapertiger.com) has once again donated his services to shred papers, CDs and any other items that would bn identify thief's dream!

There will also be an area to "swap" things that are just too good to throw away -- but need to find a "free to good home" new residence.  Items left at the end of the event will be taken along with other "trash" items.  .

Unfortunately, due to changes in Fairfax County regulations, we will be unable to accept paint at this event.  You may, however,  bring household chemicals, fertilizers, propane tanks, fluorescent bulbs, and other materials of this type.  Send us a note with what you have before you bring it to the event -- we will tell you whether it will be accepted or not.

This is a free event! but donations are gladly accepted to be shared with the event service providers.  For questions, please contact specialevents@landsdowne.org

Community Leaf Collection Day #1
Saturday, November 20th, 1 pm Until at Common Street Collection Point or Unobstructed Driveway
Again this year, we are pleased to offer two community leaf collection days.  All you need to do is rake the leaves to an unobstructed point at the curb -- pile them -- and Premium Lawn and Landscape will do the rest. Collection will take place rain or shine.  Please have them curbside no later than 1 pm, Saturday, November 20th.  They will bring their large leaf collection trucks, complete with vacuum and simply suck up the leaves for you -- so there is no need to bag them to pickup with our Monday Yard Waste collection.  From there the collected leaves will be taken to the proper disposal location in the County.

While making leaf piles, please be mindful that these are magnets for kids.  Do not allow them to play in the leaf piles unattended.

If you miss this collection, we will offer a second one December 11th,  For questions, please contact landscaping@landsdowne.org.

Landsdowne Book and Gift Swap
Saturday, December 4th to Sunday, December 5th, 10 am to 2 pm at Landsdowne Community Pool -- 8000 Morning View Lane
Do you have books you cannot bring yourself to throw away?  How about gift items that are in serious need of regifting (or disappearing)?  This was such fun last year -- we are doing it once again in 2010.

Drop off your books and gift items at the pool Thursday and Friday evenings (12/3 and 4).  Come back on Saturday or Sunday to "shop and swap."  You do not have to bring an item to swap to find a treasure to call your own -- but it is suggested.  Any items that are left at the end of the event will be donated to area senior centers, hospitals, the Wounded Warrior program and other locations.

Let the fun continue.  For information, please contact specialevents@landsdowne.org.
