Meet the Board and Committee Chairs...
The Landsdowne Board of Directors, consisting of 9 volunteer members, is elected by the property owners at the Annual Meeting held each May. All members serve a 3-year term. Terms are staggered. Board members are not compensated for their time in any way nor do they receive any reduction of dues or fines, if assessed.
The Board consists of an Executive Board (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) and six Members at Large. The Executive Board is elected by the 9 Directors to a 1 year term. Each Executive Board position is reelected each year after the Annual Meeting. Each position carries one equal vote. The Board is the contracting authority for the community and is the final arbitor of neighbor to neighbor disputes, and intrepreting community policies and guidelines.
To reach any Board member or our Armstrong Management representatives, individually, please use the pulldown menu found on the website index or by clicking the Contact Us link included here. We are all happy to help in any way and love to hear what is on your mind.
Manny Ovalle (President). I was elected to the Landsdowne Board in May 2006, served briefly as Vice President then assumed the position of Board president in October of that year. Over the years, serving as Board President, reaching out to our homeowners has produced many friendships and helped develop Landsdowne into a thriving community. My 31 years of experience as a federal officer with the US Secret Service, and specialized training as a certified mediator/ombudsman, now put to use in my own consulting and training company, has held me in good stead, especially when dealing with issues that require a fair and reasonable person. It has been stressful at times, but it has also been very pleasurable when I see the success of our events, community participation, and the members of our community stepping forward to volunteer to make Landsdowne a place we love to call home. I will not take any credit for all the wonderful things that we have accomplished over the years, but I will take responsibility for the decisions that your elected Board makes.
On a lighter note, I love walking my dog, Bruno around the community, but respect those that do not share the same fondness for pets. I enjoy watching people have a good time and will grab my cameras to record the moments. I believe that I am approachable, and willing to listen to your concerns and your suggestions. So please come up, extend a hand, and say hello.
Ron Ashby (Vice President). I have called Landsdowne home since 1991. You would think sharing a home with my wife, three wonderfully active kids and various cats and dogs would be time consuming enough. But no! In my years living in Landsdowne, I have served on many committees -- Architectural Review, Pool, Recreation and Parking to name just a few. Presently, I serve as the Landsdowne Board Vice President and Recreation Committee Chair. I have found this involvement to be challenging at times, but always rewarding. It is heartening to see our residents enjoying and participating in all that our community has to offer.
Please look for me at our tailgate parties, often behind the grill. If you attend Camp Landsdowne I am almost always around the fire pit or making s'mores.
Professionally, I am Director of Business Development for a national non-profit association working with visually challenged individuals. It is also a great way to spend a day.
I firmly believe everyone should find a way -- large or small -- to participate in Landsdowne, the place we all love to call home. There are countless opportunities to volunteer, to have fun, to be involved. Do you have ideas how we may continue to grow as a community? Please never hesitate to share you ideas with me.
Jay Dick (Secretary). I have called Landsdowne home since 2002. Since then, I have made a number of close friends. I never thought I would find a community in the DC Metro area that reminded me of my small home town in Iowa where I knew most everyone. Yet, Landsdowne is exactly that. I am in my third three year term as a Board member having served as its President for two years. My partner Chuck and I originally lived in a town house in Landsdowne, but as our family grew, we moved to a single family to accommodate the two of us, two dogs, two cats, and now a dozen or so fish. In my day job, I am a governmental affairs professional (i.e. lobbyist) for a medium sized non-profit association where I have worked for five years. It is a great job as I get to travel the country and meet all kinds of interesting people. I am so happy to live in Landsdowne and serve at your pleasure on the board of directors. Further, I am grateful that my fellow board members are some of the smartest and caring individuals that I know.
Liz Kraighman (Treasurer). My husband and I have lived in Landsdowne for the past 20 years. It has been interesting seeing the changes that have taken place in our community over the years. I was elected to the Landsdowne Board in 2008 and have served as its Treasurer since then. Prior to that I was active on several committees and have been the Co-Chair of the Landsdowne Pool Committee for the last 4 years. I also am active in many Landsdowne Events and wherever and whenever needed elsewhere.
I am often seen around Landsdowne walking my two dogs, Cosmo and Riley. Please never hesitate to say Hi, join us for a walk or just let me know what's on your mind.
Marty Horowitz (Member at Large). I have been a Board member for three terms and have lived in Landsdowne for 19 years. We enjoy the community and all its amenities and strive to keep the community looking good. I also serve as Co-Chair of the Landscaping and Land Use Committees. I am active on other committees and wherever else as needed.
I retired from the United States Secret Service, Technical Security Division and presently works for the Department of Homeland Security/ Federal Air Marshals. I enjoy vacationing and spending time at home with my wife and daughter.
Vicki Lillicrapp (Member at Large). I have lived in Landsdowne for over 20 years, as one of the original owners. I cannot even think of calling any place else home. I am in my third term on the Landsdowne Board of Directors and over the years have served on many committees. Presently, I work with the ARB, Contracts and Planning, Land Use and Events Committees.
After retiring from a 25+ year career with the Federal Government in an SES position with GSA, I started Lillicrapp & Associates, a business/government contracts consulting firm. Who would think my second career would keep me busier than my first. When home, you will often see me walking with my twp furry girls, the miniature schnauzers Mollie and Macy.
Cindi Potter (Member at Large). Hi Landsdowne! I am known by many spellings but love my community no matter which version of Cyndi/Cindi/Cyndee I use. Many know me as the lady that drives the mutt-mobile, the red box on wheels! I have called Landsdowne home for the last 17 years. I share my home with a 13+ year old, furry Norwegian Elkhound named Bruno and a not so furry 2 legged guy! I hold an MBA and MFA/Interior Design with additional graduate level training in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture and Design. Professionally, I am a licensed Interior Designer (Designs Inside/Out).. My passion for small space and start up whimsical design has served me well here in Landsdowne. I also own a small pet care/dog walking (Extra Hours Pet Care) and errand service (Errand Partners).
I was just elected to my 3rd term on the Board and have enjoyed every single minute. I "work" in the areas of Landscaping, Communications/Special Events, Neighborhood Watch and Kids Issues. While serving on the BOD I have come to know some of the most dynamic, caring individuals you would ever hope to find. I am proud to call each and everyone a fellow BOD member, but more importantly, my friends. They tolerate me in my never ending quest to provide mischief, and unique ways to involved you, Landsdowne, in the place we all love to call home. Through my involvement on the Board, I have also had the privilege to meet so many of our Landsdowne residents. Long standing friendships have formed -- with adults and kids alike. Landsdowne -- what a wonderful community we all call home. It is because of you, our diverse, fun residents that it really is a great small "town."
Mark Spans (Member at Large). I have served on the Landsdowne Board for 2 years. I am active in the areas of Recreation and Parking issues. I enjoy living here because it is a great, friendly community full of interesting people and good amenities.
I enjoy serving on the BOD because it allows me to be more directly involved in the community. In becoming more involved, I have met many interesting people, made some good friends, and helped make a difference in the community I call home. When you see me around Landsdowne, please never hesitate to say hello.
Dave Wallace (Member at Large). I have called Landsdowne home since 2009. Although I am the “New Kid on the Block” so- to-speak within our community, I am humbled to have been newly elected at 2010’s annual meeting. I share a home with my better half, Jana, our dog Annie and my son Jeremy, who I have every other weekend. I retired in 2009 from the U.S. Navy after 20+ years of service and am proud to be part of a new type of community -- Landsdowne. I plan to become actively involved in our Neighborhood Watch and with our Welcome Committee this next year and to assist in encouraging more of our residents in attending our monthly Homeowner’s meetings.
Since transitioning from service, I have been working for Lockheed Martin as the Military Relation Manager for the Capitol Region. I have always found time to give back to the community, no matter where I have lived, and I am looking forward to continuing that commitment here.
... The Architectural Review Committee
Kent Bonner (ARB Chair). Kent has been a resident of Landsdowne for the past eight years and a member of the ARB since 2004. He holds a masters degree in architecture, and works for a nationally recognized architectural firm in Alexandria. His education and professional experience provide a great resource for the ARB Committee

... And Meet Our Armstrong Management Representatives
Mike Blessing (Senior Property Manager). We are fortunate to have Mike as our Landsdowne Property Manager. Mike brings over 22 years experience in community association management to Landsdowne. He has been a hands on manager with Armstrong Management his entire career. He is an open book of knowledge when it comes to issues facing a community of our size as well as finding the right solution, the right service provider, the right answer to our many community needs.
Mike love the outdoors, and in his spare time enjoys panning for gold.
John Magnacca (Site Administrator). In spite of the fact John is a die hard Yankees fan, we love him nonetheless. John not only calls Landsdowne a place to work, but also home. He is an avid tennis player and more often than not, you will see both John and his wife, Ann, taking long walks with their furry canine kids, Ellie Mae and the infamous Betty Booper.
After a 34 year career as a senior manager with IRS. John agreed to take on the day to day issues of Landsdowne. He keeps our infrastructure working, reminds us when our properties need repair and deals with the immediate emergencies that arise in a community our size. He also serves as the Pool Committee Co-Chair.
