STORMS AND YARD DEBRIS
Storms
are taking their toll on our homes, plantings, and patience. As a
reminder, any plantings such as trees or shrubs located on private
residential property remain the owner's responsibility for
maintenance. This includes removal of any fallen trees, limbs, or
other debris caused by storms. In many cases your homeowner's
policy will cover associated costs.
When disposing of yard debris, please use open
containers (not to exceed 50 pounds), paper or clear plastic bags
(maximum of 10 bays per pickup), or bundles (not more than 4 feet
in length and 2 feet in diameter). Please note that since yard
debris is recycles, the dark black trash bags (contractor bags)
may not be used. Trash Away picks up yard debris on Monday only.
If your debris is too large for the regular pickup, please call
Trash Away at 703-838-9008 to schedule a special pickup. Please
remember that special pickups are done at the owner's expense.
As of earlier this summer, the Landdowne Community
Association has been in the process of identifying trees on the
common grounds that may pose a threat to private homes and
property -- as well as any dead trees. Sadly, there are several
throughout the community as a result of the drought 5 to 7 years
ago. Bids are being requested from several companies to undertake
tree removal where necessary.
If you have any questions concerning your plantings
and their care, or wish to bring to the attention of the
Landscaping Committee any trees on common grounds for possible
trimming or removal, please e-mail: landscaping@landsdowne.org.
