Neighborhood Watch Committee Needs You
Posted on Jan 23rd, 2015 Comments (0)

We are pleased to announce the new Chair of Neighborhood Watch -- Emanuel Dash, and Board Liaison, Shane McClung.  A newsletter will be sent shortly outlining the committee needs, as well as issues that face our community and tips that will benefit everyone.  Emanuel, a long-time resident of our community, has generously offered to lend his time and his expertise in leadership for the Landsdowne Neighborhood Watch Committee.   To volunteer for this committee, to express questions and concerns, and to let us know of issues you experience, please contact Neighborhood Watch at NW@Landsdowne.Org .

In closing, please Always call the Police Non-Emergency Number (703-691-2131) with issues you experience or crimes after the fact.  Call 911 immediately if you are witnessing something happening at the time.  Only you can make these calls.  We cannot make them for you.  The calls you make help determine police patrols in our community.

Finally, it cannot be emphasized enough -- Please Lock your Cars when not occupied.  The same with your homes (front and back doors) and your garages.  No matter how safe our community is -- crimes of opportunity -- happen!

Portable Fire Pits
Posted on Mar 17th, 2014 Comments (0)

Spring will be here on March 20th, and by weather indications one day soon.  We know it.  We really, really know it.  As the weathe becomes nicer, people want to spend more time outside.  The question of firepits (portable and permanent) is often raised.  Before purchasing or installing one, please read the following Fairfax County Regulations pertaining to firepit use.  If you wish to install a permanent one, ARB approval is required.

Think permanent spring, please.

Thanks for letting us know, Anne D!!

There is an organization in Del Ray which helps find uses for an infinite variety of stuff:  Upcycle Creative ReUse Center.

http://www.upcyclecrc.org/index.html

If you know of any scout troops or teachers that need stuff for creative projects, this place might have it.  Today and tomorrow they have free stuff to give to teachers.

They also collect a variety of things that other places might not (e.g., fabric, yarn).
